Auckland has a generally mild coastal climate which is prone to sudden changes - "four seasons in one day" is not unusual. During the month of April the weather is typically changeable, with moderate daytime temperatures between 14 - 21°C, average daily rainfall can be anywhere between 20 - 190 mm.
NZ has a prevailing wind blowing from west to east year round, ranging from gentle, freshening breezes to stronger winter winds. Coming across the Tasman Sea, this breeze is relatively warm and moisture laden, however when it comes up from the south west it is colder, gusty and dryer. During summer Auckland's Hauraki Gulf often experiences a north easterly seabreeze as the land warms up.
